The essential oil of Geranium is distilled from the fragrant leaves of Pelargonium spp., not from the true geranium popular as an ornamental. Of the many species of pelargonium, rose-scented P. graveolens is the most popular but a few others like P. odoratissimum, P. roseum, and P. radula are also used for distillation.
